skillsCOMPASS

skillsCOMPASS is a self-paced, interactive, multimedia program designed specifically for the adult student. skillsCOMPASS is comprised of 163 self-contained lesson modules in math, reading, writing and life skills. Each lesson presents and expands upon basic skills with relevant, effective workplace examples and exercises intended to engage the adult learner and to prepare him or her for gainful employment.

skillsCOMPASS offers a "vocational & academic" solution for the adult learner by: 1) demonstrating the use of key concepts; and 2) facilitating the transferability of skills to the workplace, thereby reducing the training/remediation time necessary to make an individual job-ready, competitive and successful. skillsCOMPASS is a prescriptive learning program and is fully correlated to the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Information Network (O*NET).

To support the basic skill needs of Latino adults, skillsCOMPASS features complete Spanish audio narration, which complements an easy-to-read English text. English as Second Language/Limited English Proficiency (ESL/LEP) adults can build and expand their vocabulary of English sight words while using the skillsCOMPASS program. Key academic and vocational terms are highlighted throughout each lesson to aid individuals with low-literacy skills, as well as to aid ESL/LEP students transition into the English written workplace.
