These organizations offer programs and services related to developing healthy family relationships including parent education, family reunification support, and working with incarcerated parents.

Staffed by the Family Service Bureau of Newark, the Program serves juvenile/family residents in Essex County in addressing behavioral problems, family disputes, runaways, truancy, substance abuse, and any similar problems and non-criminal acts. Experienced Crisis Counselors will conduct needs assessments, provide crisis counseling and make referrals to appropriate community service agencies. The crisis response is problem solving in nature, directive, and action-oriented.

Provides innovative, family-centered programs aimed at empowering individuals to become nurturing parents of stable, healthy families. The following is a list of programs UIH currently offers.

New Empowerment Alternatives
UIH provides a structured residential program entitled New Empowerment Alternatives for emotionally and/or physically traumatized pregnant and parenting teen mothers and their babies. Referred to UIH from around the State, all residents attend school or pursue GED or vocational training. Residents are empowered to return to their families or to move on to successful independent living.

Camp MAC
UIH also provides a free summer camp program for its residential clients as well as teen mothers and their babies from surrounding communities. The program emphasizes parenting skills, strengthening mother-child bonds, child development, and recreational and educational activities.

UIH has become a leader in providing important services to men by offering innovative programs to non-custodial fathers. Programs such as job preparation, placement and follow-up, as well as parenting, relationships and anger management training equip men to become more involved in their children's lives.

Both the Fathers Center, which offers free or low-cost resources, and a court-appointed Weekend Visitation Center are on-site. Job preparation and parenting groups are also held at the NJ Department of Corrections' Albert M. "Bo" Robinson Education and Training Center.
