For each of the 21 counties in the State, we have provided a telephone number for the information and referral agency. Many have online searchable human resource directories. Some are in the process of developing a web site. Check this list frequently for any changes and updates. Click here for a list of information and referral agencies.
The following includes programs and services that address a variety of needs related to support, mentoring, counseling, legal and basic necessities.

OAR is dedicated to stopping recidivism by offering a variety of intervention and support services designed to promote individual responsibility. OAR offers life skills training; referrals and assistance in obtaining employment, proper identification, shelter placement, and rental assistance. It also provides bus tickets, emergency food vouchers and clothing for job interviews. OAR also works with children of incarcerated mothers to help stop the cycle of crime, arranges for children to visit their parents in the Essex County Jail Annex in North Caldwell, and offers programs to help these children solve problems, resolve conflicts and develop and maintain healthy relationships.

Volunteer organization comprised of attorneys, former prisoner paralegals, law students, civil rights activists and other members of the community who provide legal assistance to prisoners with pro se litigation.

The mission of the Seth Boyden Resource Center is to "help parolees overcome employment barriers, reduce recidivism, and protect public safety." The Center offers parolees and the residents that reside in the immediate community comprehensive job readiness programs that include computer training, one-on-one and group job referrals, as well as HIV counseling and testing.
