Community Colleges

Today's ever-changing economy demands that workers learn new skills to compete in the job market. As New Jersey's economy grows increasingly high-tech, the State looks to institutions of higher learning (colleges, technical schools, vocational schools) to provide a skilled workforce. No other segment of higher education is more responsive to its community and workforce needs than the community college.

Community colleges are post-secondary institutions that offer certificate programs, Associate of Arts degrees, Associate of Sciences degrees, plus many other programs. Community colleges prepare individuals to enter specific careers and support those already in the workforce by providing career enrichment programs, GED and ESL programs, distance learning, and much more. Additionally, community colleges partner with local businesses to benefit economic development in the community by connecting its students with local employment opportunities. Some community colleges even have on-site childcare facilities. Contact a community college near you for more information.
