The Odds
Against
the Odds, tells the little known story of black American
visual artists working during the 1920s and '30s. The
primary focus of this NJN documentary is on the painters,
sculptors, and photographers who were involved with
the Harmon Foundation, an eclectic philanthropy which
was, for better or worse, just about the only source
of support or exposure for black artists during that
era. A story of triumph; how these artists in the face
of racism created beautiful art.
