The Hidden Child is an outgrowth of a July 2004 trip to the Netherlands with Maud Dahme and a contingent of twenty New Jersey school teachers. Over the course of one week in the Netherlands, Maud shared her personal story of survival during the Holocaust and brought the group to Oldeborek and Elberg, two towns where she stayed while in hiding during the war. Maud also escorted the group to the Anne Frank House, the Jewish Quarter in Amsterdam, Camp Vught, a concentration camp where many children perished, the Jewish Theatre where Jews were forced to wait for transport, and a Hidden Village where Jews hid in the woods. Other highlights during the trip included a luncheon at the Hague with former US Ambassador, Clifford Sobel, the University of Amsterdam, the Jewish Historical Museum and the Museum of Dutch Resistance in Amsterdam.
