According to the latest statistics, one out of three women is a victim of domestic violence. In 2006, 300 women, some of them dressed in white wedding gowns drenched with simulated blood, marched down the streets of New York to bring awareness to the epidemic of violence hidden behind the walls of silence. In this television special, New York Yankee’s manager, Joe Torre, talks about his childhood memories as a gifted athlete with no outlet for an emotional scar he calls “America’s Best Kept Secret.” This program expands on the Joe Torre story and unveils the issue of domestic violence while highlighting Verizon Wireless’ innovative ideas to help children and victims in the work place.
