Celia Cruz

Best known as the Queen of Salsa, Cellia Cruz began singing in her homeland in Havana, Cuba at age 14. In 1950, she began singing with the salsa band La Sonora Matencera. She recorded numerous albums with maestro Tito Puente, and won the first Latin Grammy for best tropical album. In 1987, Celia received a star on the walk of Fame in Hollywood. And in 1990, the Calle Ocho (Eight Street) in Miami was named “Celia Cruz Way.” |

The Diva of Reggaeton was born in Puerto Rico and raised in New York City. At the age of 18, Ivy Queen went back to Puerto Rico to pursue her music career. She has worked with DJ Negro who introduced her to the rap group “Noise.” She went on to write and perform her first hit song “Somos Raperos Pero No Delincuebtes” (We are rappers not delinquents). As the first and only female Reggaeton artist, Ivy Queen speaks for women all over the world with songs that deal with relationships between women and men. |
