Sheba Amin
Sheba is a big, strong girl who is looking for someone who will exercise and train her, and give her lots of love. She's a brindle-colored pit bull/bulldog mix who came to SAVE from an overcrowded shelter. Sheba has had several litters of puppies...Now she's been spayed. Click on the video icon to take a look! Amin is a gorgeous orange and white kitty with long hair. Look at that face! He was given up when a child in the household developed asthma. Amin is a neutered male, about 2 1/2 years old. Great markings, great personality, great cat!

Badger Cuddle Bug & Love Bug
Badger is an adorable puppy who looks like a little bear! He's a 3-month-old shepherd/chow mix who came from an overcrowded shelter in North Carolina. Badger will be neutered as part of his adoption process. If you're willing to put in the time to train a young puppy, take a look! Cuddle Bug & Love Bug
SAVE would love to find a home together for these two adorable kittens. They were found abandoned in a garage in Princeton; no Mom was around. These kittens are just 5 weeks old, so they won't be ready for adoption for about 3 weeks... Come to the shelter and meet these two beauties, with the peach markings in their fur!

Pit Bulls-Myths & RealityPit Bulls-Myths & Reality

The Michael Vick case has brought dogfighting into the national spotlight. But to the people involved with animal welfare work in New Jersey, dogfighting and the overbreeding of pit bull type dogs are not news. Shelters around the state are crammed with unwanted dogs collectively known as "pit bulls", and struggle with decisions about the dogs' fates. While pit bull type dogs are widely feared today as they have been responsible for some brutal, even fatal attacks on pets and people, that wasn't always the case. When properly bred, trained and socialized, American Pit Bull Terriers are known to be friendly towards people, and make loyal, loving pets. Watch this Homeless Tails Special to learn about Liberty Humane Society's BAD dogs program, and see how this Jersey City shelter carefully evaluates the temperaments of its dogs, to see which are adoptable and which are truly dangerous.
