Associate Producer
Kristine Ekman is a writer and producer with a background in law. Kristine graduated from UCLA (B.A. English) in 1998, and then served as an Americorps volunteer working at an alternative high school in Northeast Philadelphia.
While attending the University of Oregon law school, Kristine spent a summer in the appellate division of the King County (Seattle, WA) Prosecutor’s Office. Later as a third year law student, she successfully represented clients in restraining order hearings as part of the Domestic Violence Clinic at Lane County Legal Aid.
After receiving her J.D, Kristine returned to her first love, journalism. She has since written for numerous publications including The Seattle Times, Open Spaces Quarterly, Seattle Magazine, Real Estate Executive, Kirkus Reviews, and Alaska Airlines Magazine. Most recently, she has worked in Research and Development at the Sundance-Award winning film production company, Incite Pictures, in New York City. She was also a production associate for Body + Soul (ITVS, 2007), and an intern for the PBS’ FRONTLINE and American Experience series. Issues of race, class, gender, educational inequality, and urban social policy are at the top of Kristine’s research list, and she is fascinated with the way these topics impact viewers’ lives.
