Uth Turn
Show #1108
Juvenile delinquency. Youth crime. Youth violence. We all know they are serious, growing problems – but there is no easy answer for reversing the trend. In this edition of Due Process, Sandra King looks at one unique approach for reclaiming young convicts, even before they have completed their sentence. The program is called Uth Turn, and not only is it housed in a Newark church; it also uses members of the congregation as one-on-one mentors who try to “turn” the young men away from the streets and toward productive, lawful lives.
In the studio, Raymond Brown’s guests are NJ Juvenile Justice Commission Director Howard Beyer, Rutgers Prof.essor Byron Eugene Price and Essex Assistant Prosecutor Andrea McCoy Johnson, who runs the state’s largest juvenile prosecution unit.
