Medical Marijuana
Show #1004
Should marijuana use be
legal – if your doctor says it can help you … and your aim is
not to get high? Medical marijuana, now allowed in 11 states, is the issue
on this edition of Due Process. Although attempts to decriminalize use by the
chronically ill go back decades in New Jersey, it’s been years since
advocates tried for a vote in the Legislature. But this term, they say, they
think they have a chance – and a bill is pending in the Senate. In Sandy
King’s mini-doc, we meet patients and caregivers whose use of marijuana
for relief of their symptoms has placed them at jeopardy for arrest and prosecution,
while, in the studio, Raymond leads a spirited debate, featuring bill sponsor
Sen. Nicholas Scutari; anti-marijuana activist David Evans and Seton Hall Law
Professor John Jacobi.
