Safe at Any Age: Gov. Byrne Takes the Test (#908)
This week’s program explores the question of a retesting requirement for driver’s licenses for seniors, and documents the results of a road test by former Governor Brendan Byrne. Governor Byrne celebrated his eightieth birthday in the same way he marked his seventeenth — by going to the NJ Motor Vehicle Commission and taking a driving test - voluntarily. Byrne is concerned that some elderly drivers might not be competent behind the wheel, so he decided to set an example by putting himself to the test and allowing us to ride along. Byrne is also a guest in the studio, along with Motor Vehicles Commission Chair Sharon Harrington and Nat Giancola of the AARP.
