Show 8Workplace Wonderment – Special education students from Moorestown High School learn job skills by working with mentors at the Philadelphia Zoo. The students rotate among several departments including garden service, retail, education and the children’s zoo. The goal of this job shadowing is to support students’ transition to life after high school by exposing them to a multitude of career opportunities.

NJ STARS – A scholarship program exclusively for New Jersey residents covers the cost of tuition and approved fees at New Jersey’s 19 community colleges. Ocean County College has an NJ STARS Club to support scholarship students and encourage community service activities.

Culinology® – Bergen County Technical High School in Teterboro is the only high school in the country to offer a Culinology® program. The program integrates the culinary arts and food science into one curriculum that teaches the discipline of Culinology®. Previously offered only on the undergraduate and professional level, Culinology® blends the two disciplines to address the need for relevant jobs in a tough economy environment.

Get Graphic – An after-school book club at Hopewell Crest School in Bridgeton encourages students to read graphic novels. A program called Get Graphic @ Your Library helps reluctant readers and second-language learners to improve their reading skills. Local student artists demonstrate artwork depicting characters from graphic novels.  This program was funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education.
