Show 7Bats & Bugs - Winfield Elementary School kindergartners and first graders learn about bats, worms and insects. This project helps children understand the importance of these creatures to the earth’s ecosystem. The students visit stations highlighting several science lessons, make bat wings, and perform skits and songs. This program is funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Bio Blitz - Students at Hillside Intermediate School in Bridgewater conduct a Bio-Blitz. They work with scientists to survey the biodiversity of the wildlife habitat in and around the school, and learn about the effects of sprawl on New Jersey’s open spaces. The students teach others about environmental concerns and potential solutions. This program is funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education.

Historical Burlington - Students of Wilber Watts Intermediate School in Burlington City experience the rich history of the area during an exciting and educational tour. Dr. Fazzone, the mayor of Burlington and a former teacher, participates in the tour through the characters and stories of James Fennimore Cooper, Benedict Arnold, and Ulysses S. Grant.

Alternate Route Teacher - Ira Wallin was a computer programmer who was laid off and decided to make a career change. As an alternate route teacher, he is now in his fifth year as an educator at Memorial High School in Elmwood Park. The school district believes that both traditional and alternate-route teachers offer a full educational experience for the students.
