Show 13A Better High – Comedian and motivational speaker Matt Bellace travels around to middle and high schools with a message on how to get high naturally. Students at West Morris Mendham High School attend an assembly to learn the skills needed to stay focused on positive lifestyle choices. Bellace was originally inspired to pursue his career as a motivational speaker when he was a sophomore at Montclair High School and attended the Teen Institute of the Garden State (T.I.G.S.), a New Jersey high school prevention and leadership conference

Stars & the Arts – The legendary actress Cicely Tyson attends an unveiling of the new state-of-the-art Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts School located in East Orange.  Among a long list of celebrities attending the grand opening are CNN’s Soledad O'Brien, Angela Bassett, and Oprah Winfrey. The $143 million complex is a shared-use facility, allowing residents in the surrounding community to use the school's library, media centers, gymnasiums, cafeterias, music and art rooms and health and dental clinics.

Parent Child Book Club – LaDawna Harrington, a school library media specialist in Avenel Middle School in Woodbridge Township, actively promotes reading and literacy through a multitude of projects, including a parent-child book club. Harrington connects the selected book to a community service, and the current topic covers foster families.

Philosophy for the Young – Eighth-graders at Tenafly Middle School can earn college credits for philosophy. Teacher Matthew Tully ran a philosophy after-school club that became so popular that the school turned it into a course. In conjunction with Farleigh Dickenson University’s Middle College Program, the students receive two full college credits for the class.
