Show 12High Tech Hall – Moodle, Google, SMART Boards, delicious, Skype, Twitter, and Wikis -- these are all a part of the expanded high tech hall at the NJEA Convention. There’s so much to keep up with, but thanks to the largest educational gathering in the world, New Jersey educators have all the latest and greatest technological tools to help make them relevant and progressive in their classrooms.

Odd Girl Out – Rachel Simmons, author of the New York Times best-seller Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls, talks to New Jersey educators about bullying among girls. Presenting at the NJEA Convention, Simmons explores schoolgirl cruelty. She contends that bullying could be avoided if girls were encouraged to asset their negative feelings more directly.

Hope for Parents - Parents of children with autism are often frustrated by the challenges of communicating with their children. Thanks to a grant from the NJEA FAST (Families and Schools Together Work for Children) Program, parents at the Dr. M L King Jr. School Complex in Atlantic City participate in a life-changing parenting program.

Advocates for a Better Tomorrow – What do environmental attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and actor John Amos have in common? Both attended the 2009 NJEA Convention and both are passionate advocates for a better tomorrow. Kennedy delivers a defense of the environment and how neglect affects the future of the planet and the health of future generations. Amos is the recipient of the NJEA Award of Excellence, which goes to New Jersey public school graduates who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in their fields of expertise. Amos graduated from East Orange High School. He recalls fondly his experience in the public schools.
