Trebuchet - Students from Halsted Middle School in Newton built a 30 foot tall trebuchet, a catapult that can launch pumpkins hundreds of yards through the air. Technology teacher Jim Hoffmann encouraged his students to build the medieval weapon as part of a cross-curricular experience. Through the project, the students learned about history, physics, construction techniques, and business skills. They operate the catapult at a local farm owned by Anthony and Heidi Lentini
Historical Burlington - Students of Wilber Watts Intermediate School in Burlington City experience the rich history of the area during an exciting and educational tour. Dr. Fazzone, the mayor of Burlington and a former teacher, participates in the tour and introduces historical figures, including Benjamin Franklin.
Jellybean Conspiracy - Southern Regional High School students in Manahawkin perform “The Jellybean Conspiracy.” This show combines performances by advanced acting students and students with special needs. Students of all physical, emotional and academic levels work together to bring this show to life. The advanced improvisational acting class works with self-contained classes, students with autism and other students in special education classes. The show gives a voice to those who understand what it’s like to be left out.
