Show #5Marketplace 2008 – Nearly 700 students from Applegarth Middle School in Monroe Township participate in an interdisciplinary unit to develop a deeper cultural awareness for Spanish, Italian and French. The school immerses itself into world languages by visiting countries, listening to music, and bargain hunting at the Marketplace.

Envirothon – Teams from New Jersey high schools compete each year at the Envirothon, a hands-on, interactive, problem-solving environmental competition sponsored by the New Jersey Department of Agriculture.  This year, Classroom Close-up follows a team from the Marine Academy of Technology and Environmental Science (M.A.T.E.S) which is located in Manahawkin. The competition was held at Duke Farms in Hillsborough.  For more information about the Envirothon, go to: www.njenvirothon.org.

Colt News – A television production class at Kinnelon High School tapes live presentations to air on the community and school station. The students take on socially tough subjects including drug and alcohol school polices. The course gives students real-life experience while educating the public at the same time.

Heroes Fair South – Fifth graders from Arthur Rann Elementary School in Galloway work for months researching biographies that are presented at an annual Heroes Fair. The entire school is invited into the gym to see the fifth graders hard work.
