Science Academy – Imagine earning an associates degree at the time of high school graduation. That’s what students are doing from the Academy for Health & Medical Sciences at Somerset County Vo-Tech. Upon completion, successful graduates earn an Associates Degree from Raritan Valley Community College in addition to a high school diploma. Walk for African Education – Students from Hillside Intermediate School in Bridgewater participate in a fundraising walk to assist in providing tuition for college-bound children in Africa. The students also create educational and activity booths that raise awareness about education in East Africa.
Think Like a Team – Comedian and corporate trainer Stevie Ray presented an interactive workshop at the NJEA Convention to help educators improve their communication and teamwork skills. Participants had the opportunity to practice positive behavior changing techniques they could bring back to their classrooms.
Every Drop Counts – For the past seven years, Montville Township schools participate in a water conservation program called Every Drop Counts. This program has resulted in a measurable reduction in water usage. Fourth graders in Kristin Garibell’s class from Hilldale Elementary School travel to Camp Dawson to learn more about the importance of water.
