Comic Book – The Comic Book Project at Woodbridge Vo-Tech High School in Woodbridge helps students plan, write, design, and publish original comic books. Some of the comic book manuscripts evolve into bilingual comic books (Spanish and English) about the importance of community and civic engagement. At the end of the process, the comic books are posted on www.ComicBookProject.org, featured at a community-based exhibit, and celebrated in a nationally distributed publication.
Get Booked – The third graders at William H. Ross III Intermediate School in Margate Get Booked with the help of author Sherry Hoffman and an illustrator Maria Biebel. The professionals help the students develop characters, write drafts, edit, revise and produce a book.
Science Olympiad – Nearly 900 students from 50 middle and high schools compete in the 14th annual New Jersey Science Olympiad. The students participate in hands-on events and share their love of science. Classroom Close-up will follow two schools during their day of competition: the Community Middle School from West Windsor Plainsboro and Eastern Regional HS from Voorhees.
Student Conference – Hundreds of students who are studying to become teachers attend the statewide Student NJEA Conference. They will learn how to Survive Substituting, discuss how legislation affects their work lives, and how to reach all students' abilities by designing lessons that can be adapted to different levels of learners.
