Integrated Learning – Mt. Arlington School students participate in "hands-on" team projects that incorporate critical, creative/open-ended thinking, decision making, problem solving, and real-world application. The sixth grade classes are designing and building cars out of pasta shapes - think of the "pasta"-bilities!!! The fifth graders are immersed in a bridge design and construction project.
Bread Science – Students at the Marlton Middle School in Evesham Township learn about Bread Sciences. Family and Consumer Education teachers Joanne Cadden and Joan Eckert make math and science a vital ingredient in the kitchen.
Smart Stepping – Megan Steel, a teacher from Frank Antonides School in West Long Branch, uses pedometers in her classroom to combat childhood obesity. A $1,700 grant helped fund a program called Smart Stepping which expands the value of the pedometer. Fourth graders incorporate their pedometers in all their subjects, especially math, writing and social studies.
Governor’s Art Award – Stacy Chu of Montville Township High School is a recipient of a New Jersey Governor’s Art Award for her mastery of the violin. Her teacher Miriam Stachow was Stacy’s first violin teacher and she is her last violin teacher in the Montville public school system.
