Teaching
Democracy - Cherokee High School students
from Marlton will visit the New Jersey State House
to learn more about state government. The students
will meet with legislators that represent their
district and learn more about how laws are made.
Disney
Teacher 2004-05 - Casey LaRosa was honored
nationally in the category of Humanities for Middle
School by the Disney Teacher Awards program. LaRosa
teaches U.S. History to 7th and 8th graders at
Mount Hebron Middle School in Montclair.
State
House Express - Meet Alan Rosenthal, with
the Eagleton Institute of Politics from Rutgers
State University. Rosenthal created a program
called State House Express to provide grants for
New Jersey's Middle and High School civic students
to travel to the Capitol to learn more about state

Election
- Most people claim they voted on the issues during
the last presidential election . . . but did they
really? Imagine if the candidates were only identified
by a number and a list of their stand on important
issues like the war, the economy, health care
and education - would you have voted the same?
Fourth and fifth graders at Village School in
Princeton Junction learned a real civics lesson
on Nov. 2. They weren't told the party affiliation
and they had no idea the name of the candidates.
