Tales
of Western Africa - Children at the Linden Avenue
School in Glen Ridge are learning all about West Africa.
By exploring African music, dance, games, stories, crafts,
and costumes, the students will experience another culture
and its customs. This program is funded through the
NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in
Education.
Rocketry
- Fourth graders at Robinson Elementary School in Hamilton
launch over 90 rockets while the entire school and local
dignitaries cheer them on. The goal is to expand the
students' knowledge in science and develop a greater
understanding for the U.S. Space Program.
Outdoor
Classroom - The courtyard at the Lucy Holman Elementary
in Jackson has been turned into an Outdoor Classroom,
after six years of hard work by the students, teachers
and community. By using the Core Curriculum Standards,
the students, through the use of the courtyard, learn
about ecology, plus critical thinking and problem solving.
Sign
Language - Schools often teach Spanish and French
as a foreign language. But at the Walnut Street School
in Woodbury sign language is offered as a foreign language.
