Senior
Prom - Riverton School fifth graders participate
in a Senior Prom at a nursing home in Riverview Estates.
This is part of a yearlong intergenerational project
involving the students and the residents of the home.
The students learn about volunteerism, while documenting
their experiences in journals.
Birds
& Bees - Students at Woodbrook Elementary School
in Edison Township use geometry, math and science skills
while working in their school garden. The hands-on activities
involve calculators, computer programs and a variety
of math tools. This program is funded through the NJEA
Frederick L. Hipp Foundation for Excellence in Education.
Ocean
Yacht Trip - Roselle Park High School students board
a multi-million dollar yacht and tour a manufacturing
plant where the boats are made. The students learn about
naval architectural during their field trip to the Ocean
Yacht Club in Mullica Township. The students study the
marine lofting lines and drawings that are needed to
build a vessel.
Unity
Quilt - Willingboro Memorial Jr. High students design
quilts that reflect their history and ties to the community.
This project is a lesson on art, storytelling and community
service. One quilt will travel to other Willingboro
schools for displayed while another quilt will be displayed
in a prominent place in the community. This program
is funded through the NJEA Frederick L. Hipp Foundation
for Excellence in Education.
