Redcoats
vs. Rebels - Eight graders at Pinelands Regional
School are bringing the Boston Massacre to life by staging
a mock trial. The 330 students will re-enact the trial
at the county courthouse. This program is funded through
the NJEA Hipp Grant.
Peace
Day - Students at Littlebrook Elementary in Princeton
are celebrating Peace Day. As part of the celebration
first and third graders are working together on a project
called "Kindness Captured." The students take photographs
of acts of kindness, publish and sell the books, and
donate the proceeds to children's charities. Also participating
in Peace Day is Naomi Drew, author of a book on conflict
resolution and peacemaking,
Understanding
Grief - Maria Trozzi, author of "Talking with Children
about Loss" helps teachers understand how to help kids
cope with death.
Awards
of Excellence - Four NJ public school graduates
were honored by the NJEA for demonstrating exceptional
leadership in their field of expertise. Hear some inspirational
stories about Mark Melamed's humanitarian work; Paula
Danziger, an author of children's books; Lynette Harrison
Brubaker, a publisher of a fashion publication; and
Sherri Ozawa, a critical care nurse.
