An Another View Special
Out
of the Shadows
This
is a look at the long overdue recognition for
the achievements of New Jersey's Negro League
baseball players. The first segment chronicles
the history of Negro league baseball in New Jersey
with emphasis on the outstanding hall of fame
players. The second segment profiles the accomplishments
of July 1998 Hall of Fame inductee Larry Doby.
It was only 11 weeks after Jackie Robinson broke
the color barrier of the major leagues that Doby
also crossed the line. The third segment takes
a look at several efforts in place to preserve
the legacy of the Negro Leagues.
