Meet composer, performer and conductor Nkeiru Okoye. Born in Nigeria, this very talented young woman first talks about how she got started, and her struggle to change the perception of what a composer is "supposed" to look like, sharing her early experiences as a black female composer. Next, she describes her creative, musical process, from how those first thoughts get put on paper to the final work. Then Okoye discusses the making of her latest piece called "The Creation," which includes excerpts from the actual premiere performance with actor Danny Glover serving as poet to accompany the piece.
