This Another View special offers an extraordinary look at young adults (ages 18 – 25) who are focused, energized and willing to embrace the baton of leadership. The program was shot on location at the Alex Haley farm in Clinton, Tennessee where the Children’s Defense Fund (CDF) held its Youth Advocate Leadership Training (YALT) program in October 2009. The program highlights the work of the CDF and its impassioned commitment to improve the lives of children in America in preparing the next generation of leaders.

The broadcast also explores how the legacy of famed author Alex Haley intersects with the mission of the CDF. The Alex Haley farm, once owned by the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Roots, now acts as a spiritual wellness retreat for the CDF and many of its programs. The CDF Haley Farm serves as the backdrop for this compelling story of self empowerment and passion for advocacy on behalf of children. It is a story that will embrace the hopes and dreams of young adults who are committed to community service and making a difference.
