Press Release
Growing up, Sia Nyorkor's Liberian parents always spoke about the civil wars that ravaged their native homeland. The war-torn country was no place for anyone to visit.
For over 25 years, bloodshed filled the streets as child soldiers fought the civil wars of power hungry politicians. Many displaced Liberians that fled the country years ago returned in late 2005 to cast their for vote for democracy in the country's first democratic election since 1997.
Told through the eyes of Another View Coordinating Producer Sia Nyorkor, Liberian Democracy: A Journey Back Home chronicles Nyorkor's journey as she explores the historic elections, interviews the country's newly elected president Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf and meets her Liberian relatives for the first time. |
