View Bookshelf brings viewers conversations with
three provocative authors about three very different
worlds. These great reads come just in time for
the gift-giving season.
Solomon
Jones
Solomon
Jones gives viewers insight about his book The
Bridge. It's the second urban mystery thriller
from the native Philadelphian. It follows the
lives of detectives and family members in search
of a missing 9-year old girl. Jones writes about
the gritty drug scene with firsthand experience
having been drawn into the crack scene in the
early 90's. He shares his story and the scene
he once knew through those living in the The Bridge.
Jill
Nelson
Jill
Nelson discusses her provocative novel debut Sexual
Healing. Known best for her New York Times
best-seller Volunteer Slavery, Nelson takes
a turn in her writing. Find out what motivated
her to write the tantalizing book about two forty
something women who come up with a sure fire-money
making idea that sends shockwaves throughout the
strip in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Danzy
Senna
In
her first novel, Caucasia, Danzy Senna,
writes about the experiences of strong -minded,
bi-racial young girl who grows up in the racially
explosive Boston in the 1970's. She is faced with
trying to find her place in the world amidst living
an underground existence. Senna, who is bi-racial
herself, discusses, race and class tensions in
America with the community and a Master's class
at Seton Hall University where she guest lectures.
