Bush's
Education Proposal (1422)
This
program discusses the controversial issue of President
George W. Bush's plan to improve America's public
school system. Guests debate whether or not the
plan is going to be successful and helpful to
students. Schools with poor academic achievement
would have to give up some of their government
funding in order to help fund private and parochial
schools. We examine the test scores among blacks
and Latino students as compared to whites and
Asian students, the school choice program, and
giving more power to the parents of students in
inner city schools. Guests also raise concerns
of parents regarding the issue of education in
private versus public schools, and how the government
voucher can help provide excellent education for
everyone.
