Bush's
Faith-based Proposal (1420)
Should
the federal government help fund religious charities?
President Bush says it should and has proposed
a measure that would allow these charities to
compete for funding. Many are questioning the
constitutionality of this kind of initiative.
NJ has already created partnerships between faith-based
programs and state government. We begin with a
piece from NJN reporter Jim Hooker who takes a
look at some of those programs already in place
in New Jersey. Then guests join us in the studio
to discuss their views on the issue and address
what they believe to be the pros and cons of this
idea.
Studio guests - Rev. Reginald Jackson, Executive
Director, Black Ministers Council of NJ - Rev.
Samuel K. Atchison, Supervising Chaplain, NJ State
