Helping
the Homeless (1410)
Despite
the nation's "good" economy, some 12
million children and 19 million adults still suffer
from, or live on the edge of, hunger. While the
holiday season is usually a time when organizations
step-up efforts to provide food for the disadvantaged,
the problem is all year long. Our guests, who
each participate in efforts to help, discuss the
hunger problem in New Jersey and their respective
efforts. We talk about the working poor and the
impact welfare reform has had on the increase
in hungry families, and what lawmakers are doing,
or not doing, to combat this problem.
