Why
Us? Why Here? What Now?
NJN's
public affairs program Another
View will present a two-part special, Why Us? Why Here? What
Now? this month. NJN will air two 30-minute town hall meetings produced
in conjunction with the Rutgers Institute on Ethnicity, Culture
and the Modern Experience. Dr. Clement Price, Professor of history
at Rutgers-Newark, is Director of the Institute. According to Dr.
Price, Why Us? Why Here? What Now? "explores what might be
called the new realities, indeed the new anxieties, related to color,
culture, national origin and globalization as a result of September
11." Executive Producer Linda Coles and Producer Donna Richards
hope the program provides a clearer view of the issues surrounding
9/11. Dr. M. William Howard, Pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in
Newark, is moderator for the town hall meetings. Dr. Howard holds
several honorary degrees, keys to cities and awards from many organizations.
He currently serves as Commissioner of the Schomburg Center for
Research in Black Culture.
The Rutgers Institute
on Ethnicity, Culture and the Modern Experience is a community oriented,
interdisciplinary academic enterprise that furthers public intellectual
work and civic discourse in the Greater Newark area. The Institute
promotes interracial and multicultural understanding through imaginatively
mounted public programs. This project is funded by The Geraldine
R. Dodge Foundation.
Airs Tuesday, March
12 and 19 at 6:30 pm.
