It showcases original, unforgettable comedy by America's foremost humorist, with sound effects by wizard Tom Keith and music by special guests like Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, Joel Grey and Chet Atkins.

This radio variety show, which started production in 1974, was created and hosted by America's foremost humorist Garrison Keillor and originates from the Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul, Minnesota, although it is frequently taken on the road. A Prairie Home Companion is known for its musical guests, especially folk and traditional musicians, tongue-in-cheek radio drama, and Keillor's signature monologue, "The News from Lake Wobegon."
