TRENTON— Senator Michael J. Doherty (R-Hunterdon, Warren) and Senator James Beach (D-Camden) today announced they will present resolutions to the Senate and Assembly calling on the U.S. Congress to end TSA screening procedures requiring full body scans and pat downs at U.S. airports Their action comes in response to widespread concerns over privacy and radiation, as well as reports of inappropriate conduct by TSA agents during the screening process.

“The pursuit of security should not force Americans to surrender their civil liberties or basic human dignity at a TSA checkpoint,” said Doherty. “Subjecting law-abiding American citizens to naked body scans and full body pat downs is intolerable, humiliating, vulnerable to abuse, and is fast becoming a disincentive to travel. Particularly concerning to us is the fact that physical searches result in children being touched in private areas of the body. Terrorists hate America because of the freedoms upon which this great nation was built. By implementing these screening measures, the TSA has already handed a victory to those who seek to destroy our freedoms.”

I used to say New Jersey was backwards. . .I stand corrected. I am
impressed and glad to see the action being taken by NJ legislators. Thank
you Mr. Doherty and everyone else taking a stand against TSA.

  • Jordan Ches

On 9/11, 3000 of our citizens died because men of an evil ideology took
U.S. airliners and crashed them into buildings. We must make sure this
never happens again, we do not forgive and we will not forget. The TSA is
doing what should have been done years ago.

  • Terry Hurlbut

@Frankr433 First of all, ionizing radiation is not at issue. At EWR,
they’re using the terahertz (“millimeter wave”) imagers, not the X-ray
backscatter imagers in use at JFK and LGA. So if they wanted to pass a law
against the use of ionizing radiative devices, then that might keep the
X-ray backscatter machines out, but it will not succeed in *booting* out
the machines actually in use. Second, anything that affects that airport,
has to go through the PA, or the City of Newark, not the State.

What about the women who do not know they are pregnant going through these
scanners? Even at the dentist you get a lead shield if you are of
childbearing age. This is unsafe, unwise and most of all, unconstitutional.

It’s not safer, it’s squicky, and it’s probably dangerous to your health.
Let’s get rid of this perverse ‘security’ before the government pushes
worse things on us! Seriously, risks of cancer and child molestation? What
were people smoking when they instituted these crazy security measures?!

  • Currahee05GT

    resist.

  • Jordan Ches

@theredpillmedia No, but I don’t see the TSA really “targeting” anyone.
However, we must make sure that we know who is getting on a plane before
they get on a plane. The TSA is doing its part to ensure safety and I
support them in that effort. If individual workers harass someone for no
    good reason, shame on them.

  • Jordan Ches

@pebkacwtf New Jersey is not a “shit hole.” That being said, your correct
    about your second point.

  • Jordan Ches

@theredpillmedia Again, shame on the individuals who commit such horrible
acts, they will be prosecuted in a court of law as they should be. Your
argument about the photos mean little, its not a big deal. So little
radiation is let out of those machines, its hardly worth mentioning. The
TSA is doing its best to ensure safety for people who use plane as a means
    for transportation.

  • La Miller

    @BobbyL5757 I’m not a sir.

  • animlnitr8

there is no way i will allow my child to receive any radiation that is not
medically necessary, or have his naked photo taken, or tell him that it is
not ok for people to touch his genitals unless he is at the airport. we
will not be flying unless these ridiculous policies of security theater
    change.

  • BobbyL5757

@Latheartsmith Doesn’t matter. It’s the internet and you still post like an
agent sent in to create division.

  • pebkacwtf

hey legislators how about you fix your fucking budget your fucking state is
broke hmm its been 4 month and nothing happened hahahahahaha fucking losers

  • bloodguzzler

The fact the machines supposedly give off radiation also probably means
that you DON’T EVEN HAVE to be in the machine to be exposed to radiation.
Those machines of death probably flood the area with radiation despite the
    lead

  • Jimjammajay

See…the Tea Party needs to take note, this is what bipartisanship looks
    like.

  • Alice Diane

Good jog New Jersey Legislators ! : )

  • inbetweentics

these are not PROCEDURES, they are not a form of SCREENING – this is
outright MOLESTATION AND RADIATION between the two forms of imprinting and
brain washing to dumb us down. if anyone off the street did any of this to
any of you it would be grounds to file charges of molestation and torture
regarding that forced radiation on people. this is what nazi germany was
like. hitler would be very proud of amerika today. stand up and resist and
    DEMAND YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS BACK!

  • 2242bzo

GOOD legislators in my home State of NJ!? This makes no sense! I hope it’s
for real! Sounds good! FUCK THE TSA! Nazi, low-brow, low-IQ scum! DOWN WITH
    THE TSA!

  • Searching4Truth1

Your chances of dying in a bathtub is about 1 in a million, being killed by
homicide is 1 in 22,000, dying of cancer about 1 in 500, in an auto wreck
    about 1 in 8,000 ‘&’ from ‘terrorism’ about [ 1 in 3.5 million ] per year!
! In case it isn’t obvious, the real reason for all of this quite
expensive security; ie, the TSA, DHS, et al, is to establish domestic
surveillance & Big Brother, NOT to make us safer TSA will never stop these
attacks if executed by any kind of an intelligent person

  • LSG

@Searching4Truth1 yeah, but you can’t install million dollar machines and
spend billions creating new bureaucracies to stop the other things you
describe…the actual truth is much worse. Heart disease kills 400,000+
people every year in the U.S. alone. The gov’t spends about $2 billion on
heart disease research each year; so far we have spent over a trillion
dollars on the war on terror alone. It is basically trillion dollar welfare
payments to the military industrial complex.

  • PatRedstone

I’d sign the petition if I could be certain that TSA wouldn’t put me on a
watch list. I’m not convinced that they’d red flag me just for signing.

  • tippman2k01

just do what im gonna do…..if i ever have to fly im gonna have a pair of
handcuffs in my bag, and im gonna walk thru the metal detector in my
underwear and if they grope my package im gonna be a wise ass and say
jealous? to make them think im not a threat. then wen they let me go im
gonna take the handcuffs out of my bag and arrest them for sexual assault
    which is a felony

  • frank R

@davidrstarr King George the third is alive and well in the federal
government. Read the declaration of independence and replace England and
king or he and his and him with federal government and you will see.

  • Citiboy

Americans should be able to fly through out the us with out the tsa. I
belive pepole flying in maybe should.

  • Hkhan23

At Canadian airports, they have a privately owned security contractor who
does all the screening at airports. If any of these security personal
grabbed my kid or my wife inappropriately the way the TSA has done to
Americans, my fist would be breaking their nose and they would be in the
hospital. Then I would claim that i felt my family was in danger. And if I
get charged, so be it, it would be well worth it.

  • vinegaroon1

Everybody in the line near the backscatter X-ray machine gets hit when the
person at the head of the line is getting X-rayed. If the line is long, the
people toward the middle and rear of the lines get heavy, massive doses.

  • geronimo4372

Radiation….? Is biggest issue…? and the fact these perverts are going
to kids and girls panties – is OK, I guess…? Gee, People what is wrong
with all of you? You gave up your rights without any threat and fight.
    Shame.

  • sithlord115

well said but we cant do that hear because were controlled and every day
our freedoms are stripped away plus if we stand up law enforcement beats us
down but still I support your statement and would do the same myself no
    matter the consequences

  • David Johnson

Why not get Governor Christi to go fuck them up?

  • Deborah Martinez

Why cant they stop and look around if are nation comes togher as one work
together to over come every thing. Every one is to blame EXAMPLE I CALL THE
OFFICE HERE IN TEXAS THEY KNON CPS MISUSE FUND AS STILL TODAY . THEY NEED
TO PUSH TOGTHER TO MAKE THIS NATION AS ONE?

  • BackToConstitution

State secession fires all federal government employees and ends the
mindless spending and abuses by government
    All states should secede now!

  • Misato Katsuragi

at about 9:37 she goes she wonders if TSA agents are cleared on
physological evaluations (to grope and fondle a child). Yeah, their cleared
alright. It’s a job every pedophile is applying for now. They get to molest
your children now, with the governments blessing. And all you parent’s who
take your child on a fight and don’t cold cock any of those tsa bastards
who try and molest your child, you aren’t fit to be a parent.

  • Andrea Allen
