Richie Jackson: The Unicorn of Skateboarding
His style, artistic passions, and insane talent make him one of the true gems of people today. In 2016, professional skateboarding is a game of go-big-or-go-home. But to approach the extreme sport in your own unique way and have it be admired and respected by so many is what we should all strive for. To do it our way – and live the life we love because of it.
Rolling Stone magazine calls him a “Psychedelic Warrior”, saying:
To Jackson, creativity is king, and the benches, tables, rails and chain-link fences he encounters during a session aren’t obstacles, but integral props in the Richie Jackson Skateboard Circus. His latest video part for Death Skateboards is surreal, a bit silly and stuffed with “Holy shit!” moments, all of which have helped Jackson, 30, establish himself as one of the most recognizable faces in contemporary skating – even if he still dresses like a member of Captain Beefheart’s Magic Band. He is nothing if not unapologetically unique.
Watch him do things no one else in his ever competitive sport are even thinking about doing… and to him it’s just an expression of who he is in a way where his true being flows through him in a beautiful way. Take a moment to check him out and just enjoy.
