Classroom Closeup, NJ
September marks the start of a new school year, and with
that, a new season of Classroom Close-up, NJ, a weekly
magazine program focusing on innovative education in
New Jersey’s public schools.
This 30-minute weekly series
features the students, teachers,
and communities who create and
participate in successful school
projects and events. Season
highlights include arts education,
conflict resolution, and literacy
programs. Also watch for Parent
Tips and Teachable Moments.
This month’s highlights include
a wind turbine project at the
Berlin Community School, where
students save the district money
by creating wind power to
generate electricity. Also, biology
students from Kearny High School survey marshlands and
then build and install birdhouses in an effort to attract
birds that combat mosquito infestations. North Brunswick’s
Linwood Middle School technology students research
how various games are developed, designed and marketed
in “Project Steam.” From the “5 A Day” program in
Turnersville to the “Summer Splash” in Pleasantville – there
are plenty of learning adventures found on this month’s
episodes of Classroom Close-up, NJ.
The series airs Mondays at 6:30 pm and Saturdays at 9 am.
