An enthusiastic audience of NJN supporters gathered in NJN’s Studio D on Sunday, June 15, 2008 as Chantal Chamandy, a singer song-writer of Lebanese and Egyptian descent and star of the PBS special Chantal: Live at the Pyramids, presented a mystical concert of grand scale.
Chantal delighted the crowd with a stage production that encompassed a unique fusion of the romance of her ancestral roots and mystic heritage with the cosmopolitan beats of Montreal which is at the heart of her alluring musical signature. In between numbers, she talked to the audience about her mission to spread multi-cultural understanding throughout the world with her music and concert tour. She even invited members of the audience on stage to dance with her eight dancers.
The flying sets/drapes, the moving lights, the sound, the music and the dancers and the costumes were spectacular. After the show Chantal warmly greeted approximately 60 members of the studio audience, answering questions, signing autographs and allowing them to take pictures.
It was an evening of fun and friendship – all in support of programs on NJN Public Television.
