PBS Teachers Innovation Awards
NJN is proud to announce that New Jersey teacher, Monca Schnee, is one of the top 10 PBS Innovation Award Winners. Learn more.
Kindergarteners and first-graders in Monica Schnee’s New York classroom learn how to speak, understand, read, and write English. As if that wasn’t challenging enough, they are also writing and producing paper and online books and sharing and communicating about their literary endeavors with people around the world. Using educational technology such as VoiceThread and Wallwisher, Schnee posts her students’ work online and solicits interaction from teachers and students, and her own students’ family members, often in their native countries. Schnee uses digital resources in all aspects of teaching, including exposing students to online lessons to help them develop listening and reading skills and research new topics to build their vocabulary and writing skills. |
