Earthquake-like sonic booms hit New Jersey, other parts of East Coast
Residents in New Jersey, Long Island and other parts of the region reported the possible earthquake, but the U.S. Geological Survey says it was a sonic boom based near Hammonton, New Jersey.
Sonic booms are loud noises triggered by shock waves that occur when air vehicles go faster than the speed of sound.
