Trenton Boys
and Girls Club:
HIV & AIDS
Teens at the Trenton Boys and
Girls Club chose to produce their video segment on the epidemic
of HIV & AIDS. These teens met once a week at NJN for three
to four hour sessions, where they discussed what they learned about
their topic through Internet research and learned video production
techniques. In order to produce the piece, the kids conducted "man
on the street" interviews around downtown Trenton, interviewed
a health care professional, and
recorded a discussion with
a woman currently living with full blown AIDS. They also recorded
on-air stand-ups and voice-overs to narrate the video. When all
was said and done, this group came away from the experience having
learned a great deal about HIV and AIDS and also gained a greater
respect for the importance of health care compliance.
