The American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM) has published several Practices, Guides, and Specifications relating to lead-based paint.

The most recent is provisional standard PS61-96, Guide for Prevention and Control of Lead-Based Paint Hazards in Rental Housing, which is available from ASTM Customer Service for $18.

ASTM offers two comprehensive collections, STP 1226 (Lead in Paint, Soil and Dust: Health Risks, Exposure Studies, Control Measures, Measurement Methods, and Quality Assurance), and Lead1 (ASTM Standards on Lead Hazards Associated With Buildings).
