Fascinatin'
Rhythm
A special
half-hour devoted to four performers who specialize
in the art of rhythm.
Jazz percussionist
Joe Morello is known as a pioneer in his field.
He played for years with the Dave Brubeck Quartet and
he performs his most famous of solos "Take Five" live
on our set.
Dancer/choreographer,
Sun Ock Lee gives a powerful demonstration of
traditional Korean drumming and dance.
Newark's
New Jersey Tap Ensemble keeps the beat going for
a new generation of dancers. We meet rising star Maurice
Chestnut and "tap master" Buster Brown.
And from
Ellington, to Coltrane, jazz bassist Larry Ridley
has been there to supply the rhythmic foundation every
band relies on. He talks with us about his musical career
and his devotion to jazz education.
