Through labor unions, workers organize for better conditions. The figure
of a labor leader modelled after John L. Lewis dominates this middle
section. Behind him is the Triangle Shirtwaist Building, the site of
a tragic fire in 1911, which sparked the movement that resulted in the
International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU). On the lower
right, an arched doorway marked ILGWU leads to a hall showing the progressive
path toward a brighter future through unionized labor.
