wosene worke kosrof   Wosene Worke Kosrof
The paintings of Wosene Worke Kosrof have been likened to visual jazz. They have a strong sense of motion and rhythm, and there's even a kind of musical notation: threaded throughout the abstract shapes and hot colors are words and symbols from the ancient Amharic language–the national language of Ethiopia, where Wosene was born. An exhibition of his recent work, "My Ethiopia", is on view at the Newark Museum.
