NJN Public Television
and Radio is the State's educational telecommunications network
providing universal access to award-winning services that
emphasize the special needs of New Jersey.
NJN, a PBS member
station, has been on the air since 1971, informing and engaging
viewers with compelling portraits of regional issues of concern
and a multitude of ambitious community outreach projects.
NJN Public Television serves the
informational, cultural and educational needs of its viewers
who live throughout New Jersey, and in parts of New York,
Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Delaware.
NJN is one of the
leading producers of local programming in the PBS system that
is comprised of more than 300 affiliates nationwide. In the
Garden State, NJN is available to each of the state's 2.8-million
television households - regardless of cable subscription.
NJN, affiliated with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS),
operates broadcast channels 23, 50, 52, 58 and Digital Broadcast
channel, 43.
Our mission is
to provide broad-ranging television and radio programs to
New Jerseyans in three principle areas: Educational and
Training Programs and Services; Citizen Information Empowerment; Telecommunications Coordination and Technical Services.
NJN's broadcast schedule is a mix of educational programs
(K-12 and post secondary), PBS programs, acquisitions, and
local series and specials.
Note: As of
January 1, 2006, 100 percent of new programming must be captioned. Therefore, NJN now requires producers to deliver
only closed captioned programs.
