STATEWIDE - NJN Public Television celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. Day with the exclusive premiere of a new PBS series - My Music: 70s Soul Superstars, taped at the Borgata in Atlantic City this past December. Patti LaBelle headlines an outstanding musical program that includes many of the legendary groups of classic soul such as The Commodores, Heatwave, Yvonne Elliman, The Stylistics, The Manhattans, Eugene Record reuniting with the Chi-Lites, McFadden and Whitehead, and Debbie and Joni Sledge of Sister Sledge among others.

My Music: 70s Soul Superstars airs on Monday, January 19, 8 pm and 11:30 pm on NJN with the following rebroadcast dates: Friday, January 23, 8 pm; Saturday, January 24, 2 pm and 5 pm; and Sunday, January 25, 8 pm. The program will be offered on other PBS stations in 2004 providing viewers around the country with the chance to enjoy a unique collection of American pop culture.

The program is the creation of executive producer and New Jersey native TJ Lubinsky, who partnered with NJN Public Television and Radio to co-produce this national television event. Lubinsky has brought together a group of 1970s superstars in a performance that preserves a segment of American music and offers viewers are an opportunity to witness music history through outstanding performances by first-rate artists. "Our mission for the new series is to respect, honor and archive the greatest voices of the 20th century - where better to make it happen than right here in Jersey," says Lubinsky. "It's about recording the music for history and exporting Jersey to the rest of the country."

Tune in to NJN for the chance to see the heart of 70s soul in this once-in-a-lifetime performance taped at Atlantic City's newest casino, the Borgata.
