Live US Senate Debates at NJN – Invitation to Media

The media is invited to attend two live one-hour debates that will air on NJN . The debates will be simulcast on NJN Public Radio and will be web cast and archived at njn.net. The debates will be rebroadcast at a later date. |

| When |
|
The Republican Senate Debate will air on NJN on Monday, May 19 at 8 pm, with all three candidates participating. The candidates running in the Republican primary race are Murray Sabrin, Dick Zimmer and NJ Senator Joseph Pennacchio.
The Democratic Senate Debate will air on Friday, May 30 at 8 pm. All three Democratic primary candidates have accepted: US Senator Frank Lautenberg, US Representative Rob Andrews and Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello. |

Kent Manahan, NJN News anchor, will moderate both debates. |

| Panelists |
|
A panel of reporters will question the candidates. The debates are cosponsored by NJN Public Television & Radio, the Philadelphia Inquirer and Gannett NJ Newspaper Group. There will be three journalists on the panel, one from each organization. |

To reserve spaces, please contact JoAnne Ruscio at (609) 777-3993 or jruscio@njn.org by 3 pm on Friday, May 16 for the Republican Debate and by Thursday, May 29 by 5 pm for the Democratic Debate. Please include the names of reporters/photographers who will be attending. Any changes must be phoned in before 6 pm on the day of the debate. PLEASE NOTE: I will be out of the office from May 19 through 21. The contact person on May 19 is Carol Tomson, (609) 777-5058 or ctomson@njn.org. She will be at the debate that evening to coordinate press. |

| Media |
|
Media must have press credentials to be permitted in press area. Doors will open at 7 pm; audience must be seated by 7:45 pm. Parking will be available in the parking garage on Ernie Kovacs Street behind NJN. Press can enter from the employees’ entrance across the street from the parking garage entrance.
Seating for the media will be available in Studio D where the debate will take place or in the adjoining Studio A where a monitor broadcasting the debate and computer hook ups will be available. If you sit in Studio D where the debate takes place, you will not be able to leave until the debate is over since it is a live broadcast. Please note – both studios are kept very cool! |

| Photos |
|
Still photography will be permitted before the debate begins and after the debate has been completed. No audio or video equipment may be used in Studio D during the debate. In-place photo opps may be available on the set between 7:35 pm and 7:45 pm. |
